Potentially explosive atmospheres in hazardous areas are common in the defence sector. Any ignition source in these locations can lead to significant incidents. At Safehouse, we have the experience to understand the risks and have made it our mission to control them.
Standard industrial maintenance equipment used in hazardous areas introduces an ignition risk. In the wrong circumstances, sparks or hot surfaces can easily ignite an explosive atmosphere.
To mitigate this risk, most Australian regulations require that electrical equipment used in hazardous areas be specially designed, certified, selected, inspected and maintained in accordance with AS/NZS (IEC) 60079-14 – this includes temporary and portable equipment.
Safehouse has a comprehensive range of IECEx certified portable electrical products that are designed for use in explosive atmospheres. Our equipment is independently accredited and fully compliant with the requirements of AS/NZS (IEC) 60079-14, giving you peace of mind knowing your people and assets are safe.
Sometimes hot work, such as welding or grinding, or the use of other non-certified equipment must be carried out in hazardous areas around explosive ordnance, fuel or chemical storage. Safely conducting this work can be challenging, and personnel and assets can be put at risk without engineered controls.
Safehouse specialises in managing hot work. Our pressured habitat system enables hot work to take place safely in potentially explosive atmospheres, allowing you to perform repairs and maintenance efficiently without the risk of major incidents.
